Helping you tell your family story through precious photos that freeze time.

As a mom of two, I know how fleeting time is. I also know how precious and valuable the photos I have of my kids are. I have found so much joy in helping other families capture these special moments in life and '“freeze” time for a moment. I also know ALL the things that go into family photos…. outfits, weather, kid’s moods, etc.! So you will find me to be pretty laid back and go with the flow during your family session. I can’t wait to meet your family!

FAQs

How long will our session be?

Short answer: 45 min

Long answer : In my experience so far, I have come to realize that I can successfully capture a family session in that amount of time. I have tried a variety of session time lengths anywhere from 20 min up to 1 hour and I have found the sweet spot to be right around 40-45 min. This is the perfect time frame in my opinion before the littles “tap out” as I like to call it! (Speaking from my own experience!) Some families are done quicker and other families need a few more minutes. Regardless of if you have littles or all grown adults, I will always check in and ask if we have captured as many of the shots that you were hoping to before we end our session!

What should we wear?

Great question and I’m glad you asked! I recommend neutral colors & solids. Neutrals do truly look the best in family photographs and will go with any background. Now if your family is a little more on the pale complected side like mine, don’t panic! I’m not asking you to wear all white! By neutrals I mainly mean lighter, muted colors. This could be muted pink or mauve, light blue, light green, cream, you get the idea. Also mostly solids look best. If one person wants to wear a pattern that works! Clothing options to avoid if possible: bold colors, bold patterns, heavy stripes, and dark colors.

What if my kids like to run around?

Mom. Dad. I got you. Speaking from my own experience, I definitely understand! I always allow time before our session for kids to adjust to the new environment. I also allow for frequent breaks as needed. During these breaks I strive to capture the in between moments (my personal favorite) and special moments between Mom & a child or Dad & a child. Please don’t stress about this and I promise we will have fun!

How should we stand/pose?

I know this can feel like the awkward part! However, I will position you based on the number of people in your family and what looks best from my perspective. I always try to capture a shot of everyone looking at the camera first so we can check that off the list and have fun the rest of the session! I incorporate as many different groupings as I can as time allows. This will include a shot of all the kiddos and then variations of different groupings such as Dad and the boys, Mom and the girls, etc.

“Sarah has done two family photo sessions for us. She made each experience very comfortable and relaxed, well as relaxed as things can be with 4 kids . She was wonderful with our kids and made them feel at ease. Her photos speak for themselves. They are beautiful and well done. She has a great eye for detail and her skill for finding just the right light is amazing..”
